GIA Anticipates Move to New Gem Tower

The GIA – Gemological Institute of America is planning to relocate its New York lab to an under construction condo building designed for the diamond jewelry trade. The building is managed by Extell Development and is set to open in 2012, barring any delays in construction. It is located in New York’s Diamond District, at 50 W. 47th St., between Fifth and Sixth Avenues.

The GIA has promised to buy one floor in the building, approximately 30,000 square feet of space to house its staff and equipment efficiently and be able to continue its mission to serve the wholesale diamonds and jewelry industry.
